If you're playing a thief type of character, you'll love having so many more houses, treasures, and vaults to steal from. Mods like Better Cities expand the size and complexity of every single city in Oblivion so that they become more realistic and almost mazelike. Like giving you the ability with perks to summon multiple conjuration minions.
Like, there's a mod called Supreme Magic that makes your magic actually powerful. Magical overhaul mods that add hundreds of wacky and cool spells or rebalances the magic system. Graphical overhaul mods that fix the faces and bodies of characters. I'll give some examples of the mods before I move on to the actual qualities of the game. So, the game is perfect to me and I always come back to it more than Skyrim since it looks great, runs great, and has had all of its issues fixed. Any problem you have with game, from the graphics, to the leveling, to the combat, to the wet noodle magic can be fixed and expanded by mods.
For me, the modding community for Oblivion is the best.
